Description

A quiet hillside is a peaceful spot for an afternoon's browsing.

Blending into their background, three horses contentedly chomp their way through the grass of a country meadow. There is a sense of peace as well as purpose: for this trio, there is no better place to be on a warm autumn day than in the meadow.

Autumn Browsing invites the viewer to step into this country landscape, to quietly join the three horses in their afternoon, and to take time out from whatever it is that is keeping us busy this moment, and simply reflect and be at peace.

Animals teach us things, if we let them. Rarely do they rush madly from one place to the next, intent upon being somewhere before they are too late: indeed, when they do rush, it tends to be because they are in danger or frightened. But rushing from one place to the next is the norm for many human beings, because our days are ones of overscheduling, endless demands, and obligations that cram one into another until our day looks like one big, endless list.

When we eat, we too frequently do so in the midst of this rush, and were one to ask us how our lunch went, we might have to stop and think about just what it was that we ate. But the horses don’t eat in this manner – their time in the field is not a break from their time at the desk. Rather, it is a companionable moment of the three of them, slowly moving from grass patch to patch as they make their meal the focus of what they’re doing.

Step into the world of Autumn Browsing and enjoy the autumn day: feel the breeze gently playing upon your face as you look up into the clear blue sky, and take a moment to enjoy “just doing nothing.”
