Description
Spring time is a beautiful time, a time of fresh growth and exuberant color and blue skies and warm days interspersed with cool breezes.
The artwork, Blossom celebrates the sights and sounds and aromas of spring, as a young woman breathes in the heady aroma of the blossoms around her. Like the landscape she inhabits, she celebrates the colorful world of nature and outdoors.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if, indoors in our homes, we celebrated this same joy of color and life? Some people do, and their homes are filled with meaningful treasures, artwork, and memorabilia that give them pleasure, the same pleasure that the woman in Blossom finds in nature’s decorations.
Other people, however, are unwitting slaves to a home décor industry that pushes and pulls them about, telling them one season that neutrals are best, and white is the color that rich people, or down home country people (depending upon which TV show people are watching) have in their homes – and You Should, Too. These same people announce that, “Deep Purple is the Pantone Color of the Year!” or “Green is the Pantone color for this season!” thereby allowing homeowners to buy an approved sofa cushion and place it atop the grey, or beige, or cream, or white, sofa for a “pop” of color.
Blossom encourages all people to join the young woman in the verdant spring fields, beneath the blooming tree, and breathe in the sense of freedom that spring brings. “Join me,” the young woman seems to say. “Join me under this tree and simply be a part of the landscape. Rejoice in the color. Rejoice in the sunlight. Rejoice in the hope of spring and walk forth, in your life, to the cadence that you yourself set.”
Such is the beauty of spring, and nature, and a world filled with blossoms.
Featured in 48 Fine Art America groups.
(This particular country scene takes place in the fields and meadows of Eastern Washington, where spring blossoms invite the traveler to stop and inhale the beauty.)
