Wildflowers abound in a gentle, secluded field, inviting the dreamer to sit, and rest, and ponder.
Field of Dreams, the artwork, takes the viewer far beyond any plot to a movie, into a place of peace and quiet, rest and relaxation, color and aroma and beauty. This is the place that one stumbles upon while rambling through the country on a warm spring day. Turning the corner, you see it – an array of wildflowers like a carpet in Mother Nature’s home, a burst of color and joy that sings out, “Spring!”
Because you are on a ramble, there is no hurry, no necessity to be someplace five minutes ago, and there is time to fully take in the view, to revel in the vista and its gentle, impressionist quality of light and color. Sitting down, you can take yourself back to your childhood, when rambling through country paths was something there was time to do, because this was before you had a job with deadlines, or even school with homework.
This was a time in which free time was just that – free. Hours during the day when you were able to think freely, dream freely, daydream freely, question and wonder and marvel and just be.
Didn’t have a childhood like that? Many people haven’t, and those who did, certainly weren’t able to spend every moment in such halcyon, idyllic bliss. But the desire is there, the knowledge that such places as the Field of Dreams exist, and even now as adults we can find them.
It is a matter of stopping, looking around, taking time to simply do nothing, allowing ourselves to wonder as we wander, to dream as we walk, the soak in the beauty of whatever place we are in. In this way, we find our Field of Dreams, and we become, inside, a child again.
Field of Dreams has been featured on 28 Fine Art America groups.
