Description
If you were lucky, when you were a little kid, there was an abandoned field nearby where you could kick around and pretend to slay dragons in. If you were especially fortunate, that empty field was out in the country as opposed to in the city, squeezed between two derelict buildings, but either way, a field is a magical place.
In Field of Dreams, the artwork, wildflowers abound in a gentle, secluded meadow, inviting the dreamer to sit, rest, and ponder.
This is the place that one stumbles upon while strolling through the country on a warm spring day. Maybe you’re daydreaming a bit, and not really looking around you, but when you stop and let your eyes focus, you see it, right in front of you – a veritable carpet of wildflowers that spreads across the landscape, a burst of color and joy that sings out, “Spring!”
Because you are on a ramble, there is no hurry, no need to be someplace else five minutes ago, and you have more than enough time to fully take in the view, to revel in the vista and its gentle, impressionist quality of light and color. It’s one of those moments that takes you back to your childhood – before you had a job with deadlines, or school with homework, or whatever it is that insistently demands your attention – and had time for random perambulation.
But you know, you can still do that – randomly perambulate, that is. It’s a matter of choosing to simply do nothing, to allow ourselves to wonder as we wander, to dream as we walk, to observe and absorb the beauty of whatever place we find ourselves in. In this way, we find our Field of Dreams, and we touch, again, hands with the imaginative, creative child who lives within.
