Description
Grace, poise and beauty pause in a moment of reflection.
She is the Girl in the Copper Dress – 1 of three images at Steve Henderson Collection following this theme (with the other two, sensibly, being The Girl in the Copper Dress 2 and The Girl in the Copper Dress 3).
Graceful, elegant, a dancer to her toes, the girl in the copper dress moves through her space with beauty and form. Each step is a dance step, each pause is a meaningful one, each wave and movement of her arms flows through the air as a flower bends in the wind.
Such grace and form is not one all possess – at least on the outside. But the beauty of fine art is that it invites the viewer to join the in the artwork and become part of its space, so as the girl in the copper dress dances, so do we, moving gently, elegantly, gracefully through our space and our day, unrushed and without anxiety.
Impossible, you say? The world today is being one so full of pressure and anxiety, it is impossible to move through it with grace, and definitely not slowly!
But this is a misconception, and one that we do not need to follow nor heed. While yes, much of our day, for many of us, demands that we be at top form and working at top speed, we do not need to fumble and bumble our way through our speech with others, our interaction with co-workers, our time with our family. Within, where all of us have the capacity to be a dancer, we take time to pause, to feel the moment, to experience the mood and movement of the room – and we choose to listen to what is being said, savor its import, and answer slowly and wisely, if at all, because sometimes, the most graceful thing we can do for another is simply to listen to him or her – elegantly, like a dancer.
Featured in 25 Fine Art America groups.
(The background for Girl in a Copper Dress is a room in the Weinhard Hotel in Dayton, WA, which has delightful rooms with a Victorian flair.)
