Description
The simple things of life and nature are frequently the most profound.
Morning’s Glory, the artwork, celebrates these simple, beautiful things: a still life of roses stands in a sunny window, inviting the viewer to step close and touch the blossoms, inhale the heady aroma of the floral bouquet.
In the background, just barely visible through the window, is a fence post and a bush, giving the viewer the idea that the place where the vase resides is out in the country. On the table with the vase of flowers are more roses, too many to stuff into the vase, but too beautiful to simply toss aside.
Much is said these days about country style and shabby chic, and many are the home improvement shows that give advice on how to achieve the simple, clean look of country living. But the odd thing is, the look of simple, clean country living IS that way because the people who live out in the country, and who love its beauty, do not worry about scurrying to a high end shop to buy a vase the “looks” country.
Most likely, they go into their cupboards and scrounge around until they find something that works – because it holds water and is a repository for the flowers. This could be a green tinted vase, as in the artwork, Morning’s Glory, or it could be a mason jar, or it could even be a tall drinking glass. Whatever it is, it’s there, and replicating the “country look” is less a matter of following a TV guru’s advice as it is simply doing with what is available, and bringing out its beauty by a few simple elements.
Morning’s Glory invites the viewer to step into this quiet world of the country, to stop and simply look at the flowers, and to peek through the blue gauze curtains to the outside, and simply hear the quiet.
