Description
We could all use a little more reverie in our lives.
Daydreaming, fanciful musing, gently pensive meditation – reverie doesn’t involve analysis and deep concentration. Rather, it is a light footed mental dance, a faerie frolic through the woodlands of our minds, a time of thinking pleasant, desirable, impossible things as if they could be true.
It has nothing to do with anything we’ve heard in the “news,” because nothing there is pleasant, desirable, or something that we wish were true. When we are in a state of reverie, there is a smile on our face and in our heart; our bodies are relaxed; our entire being is calm and at peace.
The woman in the artwork, Reverie, is in such a state. Wrapped in a towel, she has just emerged from the bath – a most delightful bath, the kind that lasts for what seems like hours and allows you to submerge your body in water that is warm, so perfectly warm – and she is moving slowly, easily through her space.
It is the end of the day and she is in no hurry to be anyplace, no rush to give her time to a nameless, faceless office. Rather, she is at home – at home in her space, at home in her mind. And in this quiet time of no rush, no hurry, she allows her thoughts to go to dreamy, beautiful places – to a time and space where she walks free and tall, using her gifts to give to the world around her and make it a better place, creating and dancing and swirling about with grace and joy.
Maybe it seems like a daydream, this reverie, but reverie opens our hearts to what is deep inside them, what we WANT to be, as opposed to what corporations, media, politicians say is our reality.
And realizing what we WANT is the first step to getting there.
Which is why we can all use a little more reverie in our lives.

Talent with charcoal has always impressed me. This is a stunning composition. Voted for you in the Female Nudity contest 11/28/22. Nice work! L/F
Steve Henderson replied:
Thank you, Merritt. Yes, charcoal is a bit tricky but very expressive, emotional.
