Description
She Danced by the Light of the Moon.
Who is she? Who is this woman who flows through time and space in the cool light of an evening’s moon? Behind her, the great walls of the Grand Canyon in Arizona loom high and majestic, but she is in a world of her own – part of the canyon, yet not part of it, a nymph or canyon sprite who expresses her joy and exuberance through dance and song.
The young woman who posed for the painting, She Danced by the Light of the Moon, did indeed dance in such a manner, swirling and sworling with the fabric around her, as light as a breeze herself, and totally unselfconscious. It was simply she, and the movement, and the beauty, all combining and fusing into one grand dance that encompassed the dancer, and the moon, and the world around her.
Life in many ways is a dance like this, and it calls us to dance this dance with grace and unselfconsciousness, moving from one step to another without constantly checking to see if anyone is watching, or comparing our movements with that of the people around us. We are called to keep moving, keep stretching, keep swirling, keep looking for beauty and expressing it through our thoughts, our words, our actions, and our steps.
It is this metaphor of dance that is an encouragement to those of us who are not, in real life, actually very good dancers, and indeed feel that we are clumsy at best. Within the dance of life we are all on the floor, we all have unique steps suited to our lives and experience, and we all have a place within the ballroom – whether that ballroom is a formal affair or, like the surroundings of the dancer in She Danced by the Light of the Moon, the great outdoors.

Oh wow just enchanting and such a beautiful flow of this woman. Even your color combination represents her melting into the canyon and into her inner strength. Bravo to you Steve on this brilliant creation.
