She looked at him, and she said,
"I remember that cloudy, breezy day on the Oregon Coast, when at first we thought, 'Let’s not go out. It looks stormy.'
"And then we looked at one another and laughed.
“‘What are we doing on the Oregon Coast then?,’ we said. ‘It’s often cloudy and breezy and stormy looking here. We’re not going to stay inside when there’s a beach to walk upon!’
"And so we went out, and the first thing we discovered was that, though it was cloudy, it wasn’t cold. We kicked off our shoes because that’s the first thing you do on the beach: you go barefoot. It doesn’t matter if the water is warm or cold, you splash in it, feel it swirl around you like a living thing.
"And we walked. Just you and me. We brought an umbrella in case it rained, and we argued – playfully, not seriously – over who would hold it. The breeze tugged at it, pushed it, pulled it, but we managed to get everything under control. 'I’m not g...
About Steve Henderson
I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 18 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.
