Storms are fascinating.

With good reason, most people don’t like to be out in the midst of them. A warm, cozy room, one with windows where we can look out at the wind and rain – this is a delightful spot in which to experience a storm.

So it is how many of us, if given the choice, would choose to experience the storms of life: from the inside, looking out, and not thrust out in those elements.

But life generally doesn’t give us such a choice, and everyone, at some time in their lives, finds themselves in the midst of rain and wind, struggling to stay warm and dry. At the time, no one would call the experience pleasant – whether we’re in a storm of life or an actual, weather storm – but there’s something about the end of the storm, that time when the sun breaks through the clouds, that is a moment like no other.

I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 13 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.
