Artist's Description
Clouds gather. The wind picks up and the day darkens. There is an electricity in the air, a foreboding moodiness and broodiness that portends a storm, and a good one.
Standing at the edge of the ocean, we look out to the horizon line where sea and sky meet, at distant point blurring until it is indistinguishable. It is dark, darker, darkest yet, and then, when it seems that there is no light left to disappear, the most unexpected happens:
Sunlight breaks through the clouds. Streams of luminosity, an intense river of brightness, burst forth, casting lustrous glow across the surface of the water. Suddenly, it doesn’t seem so dark any more, so bleak, so determinate of tempest and squall, cloudburst and gale.
Light does that.
The artwork, Breakthrough, celebrates the advance of light against darkness. It is visual expression of those moments in our lives when we are struggling through adversity, pondering a problem, mulling over a situation that seems only mo...
About Steve Henderson
I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 13 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.

My humble opinion and quick note to viewers: Take 90 seconds and consider the descriptive words. As always, thought provoking, outstanding art AND accompanying prose !
Steve Henderson replied:
Thank you, Joe, for taking the time to explore the descriptive accompaniments. Carolyn puts her heart and soul into these mini essays on art and life: she paints with words.
