A cool evening breeze meets with sunset's warm glow, as a life traveler strolls through the surf.

So often, when we think of the ocean, we automatically associate it with the color blue, because all water is blue, we reason, even though a quick glance at a glass of water in clear glass should disabuse us of this notion.

Water takes on the color, through reflection, of its surroundings, and in the artwork, Catching the Breeze, the surrounding environment is that of sunset, with its myriad of pinks, reds, corals, oranges, rusts, and other colors on the warm, very warm, spectrum of the color wheel.

Catching the Breeze invites us in with the strolling woman, to kick off our shoes and walk in the sand and surf in the last light of the day. It is a time of reflection, thought, meditation, quiescence, and peace – emotions that the surf and the sea spark in the hearts of those who visit, or live on, the coast.

I am a fine art painter who creates representational images celebrating light, life, and color. A commercial illustrator for more than 20 years, I have been painting for most of my life, and in the last 18 years have focused exclusively on fine art. I celebrate images that invite the viewer to step into the artwork and experience a sense of joy, peace, freedom, encouragement, meditation, and thought. There's a lot of angry art out there, as well as a lot of shallow pop. I choose to use the abilities and experience I have to promote beauty and goodness.
