Description
The gentle sound of running water provides a backdrop for quiet, meditative thought.
A young woman, standing in silence by the river, absorbs the sound of the water: its constant, gentle trickle is a reminder that life on this earth is a dynamic thing that is set into motion to be. Whether the water runs down the river or not is not dependent upon the decision of a human being, and while humans can – and do – dam and adjust and rearrange the course of rivers all over the planet, they do not create water; they do not fashion mountains; they do not build springs deep in the crevices of the earth, to bubble forth and give water to the planet’s inhabitants.
We take what is here and work with it, sometimes for ill (especially when our motive is reaping massive, unrealistic profits) and other times for good. Riverside Muse, the artwork, is a reminder that it is worth taking time to stop what we’re doing now and then to simply observe this incredible world in which we live, to listen to the many sounds that go on all the time, to look for signs of the wildlife, the birds, the insects, and the fish that live their productive, busy lives outside of our sense of awareness.
Can you imagine what would happen if all this activity, which we don’t see as important because it’s not part of our commercialized way of living, suddenly stopped?
Relaxed, meditative, thoughtful, the young woman in Riverside Muse steps away from the stress and anxiety of “modern” life to touch bases with that which is timeless: life, its mystery and beauty, and the world in which it abounds. Step away from the artificial for a moment and join the young woman at the riverside, and muse upon the beauty and majesty of this world.
