Description
Morning dawns softly against the rocks at Grand Canyon's Hopi Point.
Morning at Hopi Point, the artwork of Grand Canyon landscape in Arizona, invites the viewer to step away from the office for a moment, or stop looking at the phone to check the bank balance, and enter into a world of color, form, shape, and – perhaps most importantly – silence.
And old adage says that silence is golden, and it is worth pondering upon this for a moment. Gold – the cold, hard metal – is something that our society and culture sees as valuable, and to that end, spends its time acquiring as much of it as it possibly can – if not actual gold, then what gold is said to represent: money.
But in this constant quest for acquiring more money (which none of us ever feels that we have enough of, especially if we spend too much time watching corporate-driven media), we lose out on what is truly valuable. While we are anxiously pressing forward, places like Hopi Point are timelessly standing, in their quiet and pristine beauty reminding us that there is much more to life than a new car, a washing machine in the latest colors, another electronic gadget.
In that golden silence that we find at Hopi Point we find time to stop, to rest, to look about us at what is truly a grand canyon in every sense of the word. In that silence we are able to think, to ponder, to work our way through questions that we normally don’t have time to address, simply because we’re focusing on checking off the next item in our list.
Is this what we – amazingly creative and beautiful human beings – were designed to do and be – nothing more than machines in a cog?
No, we were not. And silence – which we find as we enter the world of Morning at Hopi Point – invites us to use our minds and hearts and souls to walk into life with the beauty we were designed to be.

Love this painting. Really triggers imagination. It is so easy to view this, as if standing on one of those ledges.
